Discover the Magic of Alexandria
The Faces of N85
We are dedicating this space to the people who make Alexandria field their home base. We hope you welcome the opportunity to learn more about some of the individuals at N85 who share your common interest in flight. As Leonardo da Vinci once said “When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” The column will feature different people regularly.
The Essence of N85
It has been said there is only one way for the United States to avoid a declining standard of living, and that is through innovation. Innovation at Alexandria Field has always been in using various types of creative programming to “grow pilots”, as well as, to affect the overall value of the airport facility to the community.
The magic of exploring flight at N85 is a new learning journey for students of any age. The challenge is to become a pilot who has grown as an individual through the process and become PIC of his/her life.
The essence of N85 is in the personal discovery of the power of new-learning. Our clients see a business that has grown and continues to grow offering many services, events, and educational opportunities.
The History of N85
Nestled in the rolling hills of Hunterdon County, Alexandria Field is a general aviation airport that was created out of a corn field in 1944 (pictured above are brothers Paul Fritsche on the left and chief pilot, Bill Fritsche, on the right). The airports growth has been continuous. It has grown into a facility with 100 aircraft, a classroom, maintenance shop, skydive school, and various programs to enrich the community with aviation.
